results that include the well-known matrix equality condition [1] as a special case, still allowing arbitrary state weighting matrices. Theorem 6 and Corollary 4 are also new results that weaken the condition on the state weighting matrix. It is known that the terminal weighting matrices presented in this paper can be represented as LMI forms and computed by using existing semi-definite programming methods [21] numerically. The monotonicity of the optimal cost obtained in this paper may be useful for the closed-loop stability of constrained linear systems. This algorithm enables one to attain the conditions = 0, _ = 0 (second-order sliding mode) in a finite time, = 0 being a predefined sliding manifold. The combined approach retains the stability and convergence features of the original adaptive strategy. In addition, it allows one to deal with systems with uncertainties of more general types, ensuring robustness, as well as a reduction in the computational load.

This paper studies theuncertain nonlinear dynamics of a MEMS optical switch addressing electrical, mechanical and optical subsystems. Recently, MEMS optical switch has had significant merits in reliability, control voltage requirements and power consumption. However, an inherent weakness in designing control for such systems is unavailability of switch position information at all times due to t...
متن کاملStability of adaptively stabilized stochastic systems
The sliding-mode control of nonlinear uncertain systems with un-modeled first-order actuator dynamics has been considered. A 2-SMC scheme with adaptive switching rule has been proposed, and its effectiveness has been shown for a class of systems encompassing non zero-input-stable (ZIS) systems and non-BIBS stable plants. The proposed algorithm is easy to implement and therefore suited to being ...

Controller design remains an elusive and challenging problem foruncertain nonlinear dynamics. Interval type-2 fuzzy logic systems (IT2FLS) incomparison with type-1 fuzzy logic systems claim to effectively handle systemuncertainties especially in the presence of disturbances and noises, but lack aformal mechanism to guarantee performance. In contrast, adaptive sliding modecontrol (ASMC) provides...

An asymptotically stable direct adaptive fuzzy PI sliding modecontroller is proposed for a class of nonlinear uncertain systems. In contrast toother existing approaches of handling disturbances, the proposed approachdoes not require this bound to be known, only requiring that it exists. Moreover, a PI control structure is used to attenuate chattering. The approachis applied to stabilize an open-...

In this paper, a new smooth second order sliding mode control is proposed. This algorithm is a modified form of Super Twisting algorithm. The Super Twisting guarantees the asymptotic stability, but the finite time stability of proposed method is proved with introducing a new particular Lyapunov function. The Proposed algorithm which is able to control nonlinear systems with matched structured u...

In this paper, we extend the sliding mode idea to a class of unmatched uncertain variable structure systems. This method is achieved with introducing a new terminal sliding variable and the finite time stability of proposed method is proved using a new particular finite time condition in both reaching and sliding phases.
